More book news!

Thanks to Jimmy, Christina's book is now available on the Kindle!

Just like the Nook, Kindle offers a free app on all Apple devices, so you can download the book on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod.

Also, please remember to post a review of the book on Amazon, B&N, Lulu, your own blog, here as a comment, wherever!

Thanks,
Erin

  1. Kindle apps are available on virtually every type of device, including PCs, Macs and Android phones. I think only desktop Linux and one or two obscure phone platforms don't have a Kindle app.

  3. I thought about you today.About how honest and brave you were. I also think that the painting you did, that is on the opening page to this blog, is the most moving, most deep painting, I have ever seen. I hope you are resting in peace, you dear strong girl.

  6. Is there a paper back or hard cover available? I would like to buy a few copies and leave them in public places for people to discover. I just read this book, and it is simply heart wrenching; what happened to her is unfair, it's unfair, it's unfair. Most any story in the media regarding a traumatic, life altering injury or condition is spun into some kind of a feel good/inspirational tale. Christina could have done that, gave us the cliché "cripple" story that we have all come to expect; the one where she suffers an injury, gets depressed for awhile, finds new meaning in life, and things work out just fine after that. Hell, she may have even sold more books by doing that, being that everyone seems to love those kinds of stories. But no, instead Christina chose to give us the brutal and awful truth of her daily existence. Those of us who are able bodied (myself included) can't even begin to fathom what it is like to be in such a horrific situation, but Christina painted a very vivid, and very unpleasant picture. The passage about imagining oneself as a head just floating in space (due to the loss of sensation below her chest) was quite poignant; that was her existence. After reading this, two things became painfully clear to me: 1.) A cure for spinal cord injuries MUST be found, at any cost. 2.) More people need to read this book. Learning how terrible a situation like Christina's was, and knowing that a cure does seem to be obtainable, probably in less than a century's time, more resources need to be devoted towards a cure to in order to speed up that timeline. It saddens me that Christina passed away before she could be healed, but another two to six decades in her condition would have been unimaginable.
